What is Neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback, also called neurotherapy or neurobiofeedback, is a type of biofeedback that uses real-time displays of brain activity—using an electroencephalography (EEG), to teach self-regulation of brain function. Electrodes are placed on the scalp to measure activity, with measurements displayed using video displays or sound.

Nothing is done to the client, and only brain activity is read by the EEG and the brain is trained.

Every client has an individualized treatment plan to address the goals of the clients. Neurofeedback Technician’s do not diagnose.

Neurofeedback is a solution for many who would like to seek treatment in the areas of addiction, ADHD, anxiety, autism, depression, dementia, echolalia, migraine, sleep disorders and more.

Why Train your Brain?

Neurofeedback works by training the brain to be more flexible and resilient. This is done by interacting with the brain and offering the brain information it needs to function gracefully.

Think of all the things you do every day as requiring different states of consciousness or awareness. From being alert and focused to being asleep. Great flexibility is necessary for your brain to move from one state to another.

A lack of flexibility can adversely affect your performance and your mood. It can leave you feeling moody, depressed, and stressed by the end of the day.

A truly flexible mind allows you to respond appropriately to different situations and environments.

The Process

Many users have referred to Neurofeedback as yoga or a gym for the brain. It is as simple as giving yourself “downtime” or some TLC.

All you do is relax in a comfortable chair. The technician will attach the electrodes to your scalp. You will be given several different options of the type of feedback you prefer. Some of the choices are listening to a soothing sound, playing a game, putting a puzzle together, etc.
